About the Maui WaiWise Stewardship Summit

Maui continues to experience changing rainfall patterns, causing frequent drought conditions and challenging the County’s water supplies. The Maui County Department of Water Supply (DWS) is helping businesses, visitors, and residents take meaningful steps to reduce water use to ensure adequate supplies for current and future needs by incorporating water conservation best management practices and pursuing water efficiency certifications such as LEED.

You won’t want to miss this exclusive opportunity to demonstrate your brand’s leadership in water conservation efforts and initiatives. Connect with water conservation professionals, LEED experts, facility/operations managers, and DWS staff to learn and share best practices; understand how reducing water use can build resilience and help the bottom line; and earn recognition for current and future water conservation efforts.

Local and national experts will provide valuable insights on topics including reducing water use and costs while enhancing the guest experience, using water efficiently to maintain a beautiful landscape, optimizing water use in cooling towers and pools, and understanding opportunities for on-site water reuse. Participants will also learn how U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) programs such as LEED and Arc benchmarking can help with water efficiency and other sustainability goals, especially for those aspiring to demonstrate industry leadership and reduce water consumption by 30% or more.
Additionally, DWS will offer guidance on complying with Water Use Conservation Ordinance 5929 and provide attendees with early access to a free toolkit designed to help the lodging industry reduce water use. The toolkit will include water assessment guidance and checklists, technical reference materials on major water-using systems, and educational materials for staff, vendors, and guests.
